oh HELLO

This is long overdue, but I find it hard to update amongst the chaos. What about chaos is updatable? I also find it easier to update when I’m settled into a rhythm and my rhythms have been in flux for months (years) now. So, now that I’m a wee bit settled into my temporary-ish stopping point of Butler Pennsylvania, I’m gonna do a brief recap.

A fair amount has happened in the last 7 months. It’s hard to know where to start, or what’s important to share. The updates I want to highlight today are what’s new with this website, and that covers a few areas worth diving into, at least briefly. If you go to the HOME page of this site you’ll see some new graphics (designed by me, not my forte but I’m really happy with them). Four squares, three that are citrine yellow with white lettering, oh PAINTING, oh PHOTOGRAPHY, oh WRITING. And the fourth square is dark navy blue with a white flower with SA overlaid.

oh PAINTING

Right now oh PAINTING is a work in progress. It’s the section that needs the most attention and I haven’t had the energy to work on it. So there’s not much to say other than that if you’d like to commission me to do a painting, or if you’ve seen something I’ve done you’d like to purchase, please reach out. I’m better at updating what I’m painting on my Instagram.

oh PHOTOGRAPHY

I’ve tided and updated photography my galleries. My books for photography sessions, residential and portraiture, are open on select dates. You can find more information here and here on what’s included in the packages and how to book.

In June I moved from Harrisburg, PA to Butler, PA and I am open to working in those areas and the surrounding counties. I’m also willing to travel further.

oh WRITING

Back in March published my second book of poetry, you can buy Blank. Page. here. When I was finishing up edits on Idiot. Heart. I started to envision a larger project, a series of 4 poetry books. They are loosely based on the four seasons, Idiot. Heart. is the Winter book, making Blank. Page. the Spring book.

I’m currently working on the third book in the series, it has a tentative release date for the end of October. Once I’ve finished this update and finished a couple other projects and commissions I’ve put off working on while I was in the midst of the chaos, I’ll start working in earnest on finishing the first and second drafts of some of the poems. I was in the middle of an editing session when I put the book on pause and I’m feeling a little rusty. I’ll try at get a post talking about the behind the scenes of writing the second book, and more posts detailing the process and keeping those interested in the progress of the third book up to date with what’s happening.

You can also find my Journal there, I’ve started to calling it The Inconsistent Journal, which is accurate seeing as it’s been over half a year since I’ve felt settled enough to update. Anyway, my arbitrary goal in my head is being met with this post, so I’m happy.

SA

The fourth and final square is a link to a writing side project I’ve been thinking of doing for a while and started recently. It’s called soft anarchy and please go check it out. Especially if longer writing floats your boat. I’ve been enjoying longer form content lately (movies over tv shows, YouTube over Reels, you get the idea) and I’ve been wanting to do some of that myself.

I’m intending to use the space there as a sandbox to get me to write longer, write more, all with the end goal of having habits that will translate to writing a novel. Poetry, to long essay/prose/miscellaneous writing, to novel writing, these are the baby steps.

Currently there are a handful of posts vaguely explaining the purpose behind the writing. It’s a lot of stream of consciousness stuff right now, but once I’ve settled (there’s that word again) into a routine there I’m hoping to do more researched pieces and some short fiction. Head there for more info!
