oh HELLO

It’s supposed to, as in it definitely will, storm today. If the room I’m currently in had windows (fenêtre) I’d know for certain if it is already, but it doesn’t and I’m not moving. I wore boots just in case and I like my odds.

I’m here at a coffee shop for the croissants (chocolate filled please and thank you) and the iced latte. And for the distraction. It’s a writing day for me and I’m already distracted, so now I’m distracting myself with writing of a different sort. This gem of a blog post. (Strap in, future me here to say, making sense was not a priority for me today.)

You see, part of the general chaos of the moment is that I’m moving. (Again you say? Shhhh, quiet now.) I’m also waiting to hear about a job I interviewed for earlier this week. So it’s the one two punch of wanting to sit in waiting mode (to hear about the job) and the wanting to pack everything and just be done with a place and space that I’m eager to exit (except I still need the things).

And I want to keep up the writing habit that is facilitating the 18,000 words a month pace I started in May.

There are more “productive” things I could be doing, but instead I’m going to do something entirely different. Or maybe we need a new definition of productive. All the people who were discovered in pizza shops probably don’t regret ordering that pizza.

oh DON’T MIND THE RAMBLE

Firstly, I’ve made updates to this website. I’m going back to some basics. At least for a little while. There’s a new landing page, and there’s an updated about me page. Go check them out, or check out the reworked photography and writing pages.

I love a good ramble, I think it’s called “yapping” these days, and that’s just what I’m gonna do now. I’m ok with that sentence making me sound old. Annnnnyway.

Something I did years ago, in another iteration of this website, was post about my favorite things. (Groundbreaking, I know, but if the internet isn’t for yapping about the random shit we love to strange but equally passionate people, then what is it for?)

And in that spirit I’m gonna start with some music that I’ve been loving lately. I adore music. I love sound-tracking my life. I love making playlists for my friends (something I haven’t done in years and maybe that is also gonna get a revival).

RIP KP – King Princess

I have been a KP fan for a while and I’m always eager for what they do next. Their new single RIP KP is delicious and I’m so excited for the full album that will be out in September. This single has already made it on to my June playlist (I use Tidal and keep a monthly playlist of my faves and most played, this will be the 4th year of doing this and I love it.)

Man of the Year – Lorde

I can’t fully express how this video makes me feel. Or how haunting and haunted this song is. It’s a love letter. It’s stunning. And I’m for one ready for LORDE SUMMER.

Easy Lover – Miley Cyrus

Hey, it’s a bop. I like the whole album and I’m glad this is out now. Another that made it to my June playlist already.

These are the songs I’m sending to my friends right now. And if this is the state of new music, of the art that is being made right now, I’m excited. I love a good song, I love music.
